Meet Our Instructors At Midwest Shotokan Karate Association
Sensei Veronica Putzbach
Sensei Veronica Putzbach is our facility’s owner and head instructor. She began her training in 1995 and currently holds a fourth degree black belt in Shotokan Karate. She has dedicated herself to teaching Karate, specifically to children and has developed several successful children martial arts programs. Sensei Veronica has taught not only Karate, but has coached children’s athletics all across the northwest suburbs.
Sensei Anthony DeSardi
Sensei Anthony DeSardi is our facility’s founder and lead instructor. He has been training in Shotokan Karate for over 50 years and holds the prestigious rank of seventh degree black belt. He has an extensive background in both competing and coaching. Sensei DeSardi is a highly respected member of the international Karate community.
Sensei Walter Barsell
Sensei Walter Barsell is our facility’s Kobudo instructor. He began his training in 1979 and through the years has trained in a variety of styles, including Tae Kwon Do, Kobudo and Ninjutsu. He obtained a fourth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do / Kobudo and ran a small dojo in Iowa. Sensei Walter holds a third degree black belt in OKDR Kobudo.
